FARNHAM SPORTS COUNCIL

The Farnham Sports Council is an independent, voluntary body which represents the sporting interests of the people of Farnham and the surrounding districts. The FSC acts to promote sport in the community at all levels, to safeguard existing facilities, to identify sporting needs in the area and provides a forum where clubs and individuals can present their views on sporting matters to local authorities and other interested organisations.

The aims of the Sports Council are:-

  • To assess the sporting and recreational needs in the Farnham District and to help with catering for these needs.
  • To examine the need for improving exsisting facilities and to offer advice to Farnham Town Council, Waverley Borough Council and other organisations on provision of new facilities.
  • To assist with the dissemination of information on available sporting and recreation facilities and oppotunities, and to maintain an up-to-date record of sporting organisations.
  • To provide Waverley Borough Council, Farnham Town Council and other interested organisations with a body of opinion reflecting generally the views of local sports and recreation interests on matters concerning the development of sports and recreation in the District of Farnham.
  • In consultation and collaboration with the local Education Authority and other bodies, to encourage school leavers, youth and adults to continue to take part in physical education.
  • To take such action as the Sports Council deems necessary on reports and recommendations from any organisation dealing with sports and recreation in the Farnham District.
