Sports Awards

The annual Farnham Sports Awards are a celebration of local sporting people and sporting achievements. A very successful Awards evening was held on 7th February at Farnham Rugby Club. Below is a list of the categories, the winners and highly commended:

Sports Personality of the Year

  • WINNER: Kylie Grimes
  • HIGHLY COMMENDED: Andrea Coombs from Farnham Swimming Club and Jimmy Hassel from Atomic Boxing Club

Young Sports Personality of the Year

  • WINNER: Hannah Carruthers from Frensham Pond Sailing Club
  • HIGHLY COMMENDED: Lucy Cochrane from Aldershot and Farnham Hockey Club and Jack Adams from Atomic Boxing Club

Sports Club of the Year

  • WINNER: Stellar Gymnastics
  • HIGHLY COMMENDED: Farnham Golf Club and Farnham Town Running Club

Coach of the Year

  • WINNER: Etienne van den Brink from Farnham Rugby Club
  • HIGHLY COMMENDED: Hannah Fox from Stellar Gymnastics, Sean Bailey from Farnham Swimming Club and Stuart Boswell from Aldershot, Farnham and District Athletics Club

Sports Team of the Year

  • WINNER: Aldershot and Farnham Men’s 1st XI Hockey Team
  • HIGHLY COMMENDED: Seale and Sands Bowls Team and the Farnham Masters Swimming Team

Young Sports Team of the Year

  • WINNER: Farnham Swimming Club

Disability Sports Award

  • WINNER: Kate Hedley from Frensham Pond Sailability

Service to Sport Award

WINNER: Mike Varley from Seale and Sands Bowls Club

Mayor of Farnham’s Special Award

  • WINNER: Tom Jeffrey from Farnham Floorball Club

Mayor of Waverley’s Special Award

  • WINNERS: Brian Grimwood and John Townsley from Frensham Pond Sailing Club

Volunteer of the Year

  • WINNER: Jacquie Brown from Farnham Runners
  • HIGHLY COMMENDED: Sara Maitland from Farnham School of Tae Kwon Do, Brian Messenger from Farnham Rugby Club, Kaine Carrington from Atomic Boxing Club and Sarah Oates from Aldershot and Farnham Hockey Club.

Young Volunteer of the Year

  • WINNER: Harley Magee from Badshot Lea Football Club
  • HIGHLY COMMENDED: Jilly Antrobus from Stellar Gymnastics and Jack Josty from Atomic Boxing Club
